When you can’t wish away the rain, you should dress for the occasion instead. Detroit has seen its fair share of rain and cold lately, but that doesn’t mean you can’t implement a spring season mindset when it comes to your clothes. Choose something fun, bright, and cheerful – the opposite of the dreary, wet days ahead and you’ll be looking forward to the sounds of raindrops outside your window.
I’m a huge lover of all things fall – from the weather to the layering style, don’t get me wrong – but why is it that we barely get to hang on to that before the harsh cold winds and snow comes our way? At least that’s how it is in Michigan. The view from my balcony once was full, colorful and lively trees… and now they’re just bare. And I swear, it happened all within a couple of weeks. That officially means that it is chilly enough for jackets and scarves, and what not (which I’m fine with). It’s when the parkas and snow boots are required that frighten me. This look I have on here is one of my favorites! From the black and white to pintuck details, this outfit emits a romantic, yet professional, femininity. And, a perfect everyday look for fall. Work appropriate? Yes. Happy hour worthy? Yes. These pieces work nicely together, and really embody my style.
Soo… 70 degrees in November? I’ll take it! It’s like the California sunshine came back to Michigan with me. If only it was a permanent kind of thing. If I could have warm weather year round, I would be the happiest thing ever (you know, those endorphins and all… and that wicked tan). While I was out west, all of my outfits were tailored to the occasion of each day! I had my airport look, rehearsal dinner look, beach look, wedding look, nightlife look and dressed-up-casual-tour-the-west-coast look.
It’s surreal that in two weeks I’ll be hopping on a plane to California to attend a wedding (so excited) and reintroducing the warmth and sunshine into my life… only for a few days, though! In the meantime, I’ll keep my shorts and tanks set aside for packing and whip out my scarves and cardigans for now. This outfit is so on point for fall: cozy cardi + riding boots = the perfect combo.
Wow, this weekend’s weather has taken a turn… hasn’t it? It’s officially boot season, and sweater weather for that matter. The spices, the colors, the flavors and the fashion pieces are all coming to life. My weekend was filled with a little brunching, and a whole lot of cider daze. Seriously, there’s nothing like a warm donut and a hot cup of cider on a chilly day. So, it only made sense to head to the nearest cider mill: Yates!
Anytime I throw on a flannel, I feel like I should be at jammin’ away with Luke or Kenny, or picking pumpkins and apples at the cider mill! Country music and fall festivities are two of my favorites things so it isn’t a bad feeling at all. I’m so excited for fall and the scents, events and styles that come along with it. And to think, it’s here in just a few short weeks! Carefully crafted combinations with trends from the here and now, and other eras whether past or future, are my absolute favorite! I mean, who doesn’t love knee high boots and the essential plaid shirt?
It isn’t out of line to say that we all lust for a little arm candy, right? The jewels, the bangles, the wraps and the watches – no outfit is complete without it. You’ll rarely find me without something around my wrist, usually it’s Michael Kors or Kate Spade; but just recently I found a new stackable piece. Can you say L-O-V-E to this little gem?
Yesterday, my boyfriend and I celebrated our three year anniversary! It’s crazy to think about how quick time flies. And to think that my boyfriend has been able to put up with my most diva’est moments ever… as did I with him, hehe. Definitely a keeper! The weather was simply perfect this weekend. I had a lot of pool time, sun time and time outdoors… as you can tell. I’m sporting this fabulous bronze summertime glow… hehe. If only it came natural. At least I got it in time for our anniversary date night. With a little help from my Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, my face was looking flawless! Date night is always a great night. It’s a reason to get all dolled up and take it to the town. We ended the night with a romantic dinner at The Melting Pot, I mean, what’s better than a little dinner, wine and lots of chocolate fondue?
What better way to start the morning than with a cup of coffee, flowers and a scenic view? This past weekend, my boyfriend and I took a long weekend trip up to the cabin. So tranquil and blissful – it’s exactly what the both of us needed after a hectic week.
Who can resist a stellar deal? I was hoping I’d say “ME!” but that boat sailed a long time ago… Earlier this week, my cousin was in town and squeezed me in her schedule before she took off to New Orleans for a few days. So, what better way to get in some quality bonding time than a little shopping and dining at the Somerset Collection. Let me start by saying that I had no intentions of buying ANYTHING during this trip. Little did I know that I would stumble upon a handful of fabulous goods at Macy’s.
